I remember a time last year during the early episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. when I was getting frustrated with its mediocrity. I knew the potential in this show as it fell within the Marvel cinematic universe and those movies are of the utmost quality. Well as the first season progressed the show got better, finishing the season better than it started and if I were asked to rate it in one word I would have said good.
Now here we are in the second season with a much different feel from top to bottom and its all for the better. This season has been pretty damn awesome and the most recent episode A Hen in the Wolfhouse is clearly one of their best episodes.
We got our first full glimpse at who Skye’s father is and the dude is scary. He has a short fuse and he comes completely unhinged a few times in the episode. They haven’t revealed who or what he is but the thing they are alluding to on the show is alien. My best guess and a popular one on the internet is he’s an Inhuman. Making Skye and maybe even Raina one too.
Last week Coulson was classic Coulson out on the job with agent May. This week we see why he is without a doubt the right man to be the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. He always seems to have a plan and an answer for almost everything, very Nick Fury like with how he is running the new operation. At one point he was playing a game of chicken with Raina who was threatening him with outing Simmons to Hydra. This little act didn’t get Coulson to waiver one bit as he had an ace up his sleeve deep undercover in Hydra, Bobbi Morse.
Bobbi Morse showing up in A Hen in the Wolfhouse was one of the bigger things to go down in this episode and she clearly kicked ass. She was deep undercover at Hydra just like Simmons but Morse was aware of Simmons also being undercover. When Simmons cover was blown Coulson had Morse break her own cover to bring Simmons home safely. For those of you unaware Bobbi Morse is a character from the Marvel comics who goes by the superhero name Mockingbird, she is also the wife of one Clint Barton aka Hawkeye. That does not appear to be the case in this universe yet however. It appears Bobbi Morse will be a series regular giving a lot of fans what they’ve been crying for, an actual superhero on the show on a consistent basis.
Coulson finally let Skye in on what he’s been dealing with in regards to his crazy cave drawings. She however immediately recognizes it to be a map. Leading to what? Not a damn clue but I’m certain it is something highly important that they will end up racing Hydra too. Or probably not seeing Skye’s father just aligned himself with Dr. Whitehall and Hydra at the end of A Hen in the Wolfhouse proclaiming he’ll show them how to harness the diviner’s power if they help him murder Coulson and his entire team.
Am I the only one who keeps reading the title of this episode as A Hen in the Wafflehouse? Maybe that just means I want waffles…
