Robert Downey Jr. is very close to inking a deal that will put him in the next upcoming Captain America movie. This move would bring about the famous Marvel mini series, Civil War, to the big screen and usher in a new phase.
According to Variety,
The actor is in final negotiations to play billionaire Tony Stark in the third installment, which is slated to begin production in the Spring for a May 6, 2016, release. Downey is already set to suit up as Iron Man for next year’s “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “The Avengers 3.”
For those of you unfamiliar with the Civil War storyline it pits Stark vs Rodgers over the Superhero Registration Act. Stark is all for it which will force all super humans on US soil to agree to and reveal their secret identity. Of course Captain America is against this causing a major rift between the two and many heroes.
If this deal ends up being inked and this becomes Marvel’s plan for phase 3 it begs the question then. When will Thanos become the threat to the Avengers they are building him up to be?
